painting of a pregnant woman with a bug face

Pregnancy

My thought behind my pregnancy piece was to express how women's identity seems to disappear when they become pregnant. To bring this thought out visually I painted a pregnant woman with a bug face. As women are finally starting to get more and more recognition I personally feel like women still have so many hurdles to accomplish. It is amazing what women's bodies are able to do but making a baby is not all a woman should be known for.

Monster Birth

While creating babies is a beautiful thing, having children for a woman can be horrible. Giving birth is one of the worst pains a person can feel. At this rate giving birth to a baby can feel like a monster crawling out of you from all the tearing and rearranging of organs.

Baby In The Oven

This painting also in a sense provides insight on women giving birth. This painting compares a woman to a hog being roasted in a fire. The woman's body is seen as just a placeholder/ incubator no matter the effects it has on her body.

Bloody Teat

The bloody torn cow teat represents how women are so miss treated and sucked till they are dry. Women are looked at to clean, cook, take care of the kids, as well as supply for the family. Women are very strong creatures but they shouldn't have predetermined meaning and purpose.
